How I Can Help You

I will work with you to naturally manage the cause of your gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea, cramping, flatulence, bloating, general discomfort, abdominal/GI discomfort, unpredictable/frequent bowel movements and constipation.

Addressing digestive dysfunction does vary based on the root cause, however dietary factors, stress, sleep and environmental toxins all play a role in treating the full picture. Individualized testing allows us to determine the root cause together.

I also have a passion for supporting patients with autoimmune diseases. Approximately 80% of our immune system is in the gut, therefore a healthy gastrointestinal tract is integral in supporting a robust immune system.

You can read more about my approach to autoimmune disease here.

Autoimmune Disease Causes

Autoimmune diseases occur when the body creates cells that attack its own tissue. While the exact cause of autoimmune disease is often unknown and poorly understood, contributing factors to autoimmunity include stress, infections, poor diet and poor gut health.

Support for Autoimmune Diseases

The root cause of many different autoimmune diseases is often related to an abnormal immune system response. Treatment plans are customized for each individual person and condition. Through supplementation, stress management, toxin elimination and healthy eating, we’ll aim to improve your gut health and minimize the side effects of prescription drugs.

Specific Areas of Focus

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (Heartburn)
  • Hypothyroidism (Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis)
  • Hyperthyroidism (Graves’ Disease)
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Psoriasis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
  • Symptoms of Gut Dysfunction: diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating
  • Symptoms of Autoimmune Disease: muscle pain, joint pain, inflammation

 Coordinated Care

Together we will focus on a naturopathic approach to your gastrointestinal health or autoimmunity but I encourage patients to utilize their primary care doctor for acute care and routine screening needs (mammogram, Pap test, vaccinations, etc.). As needed, we can work alongside your primary care doctor and specialists for highly coordinated care.

The best outcomes are seen in patients that are committed to making lifestyle changes. To achieve successful results, you will need to put in time and effort to improve your health. I am happy to discuss more on a free phone consultation.

Why should you see me for your autoimmune and digestion problems?

Significant Reduction or Elimination of Symptoms Without Side Effects of Prescription Drugs

We will work together to use natural treatment options for managing your symptoms and treating the root cause. This can be accomplished with lifestyle changes and supplementation, all while avoiding or minimizing the side effects of prescription drugs.

I Will be a Partner in your Health Care and Will ACTUALLY Listen

With longer appointments than most family doctors or specialists, I have the time and energy to listen to your specific concerns and problems. Instead of being rushed out of my office, I want to become your partner in getting your health back by sitting with you to discuss all questions, concerns and thoughts about your condition AT EVERY APPOINTMENT.

When you become my patient, I’ll take the time to understand all the mental, emotional, and social factors that affect your health, and tailor your treatment based on these.

You’ll get to Have Some Say in your Health

I will listen to you and get an understanding of your health issues. I will give you a variety of options for treatment and you can choose which option you are most comfortable with.

I will also check-in with you often in order assess the course of your treatment program.

Live a Healthier Life

I will work with you to treat the cause of your digestion problems. By treating the cause, instead of just relieving the symptoms, many patients find that they have less problems with their digestion, but also that they also feel healthier and have more energy. Like they say, health is more than just an absence of disease.

This allows many patients to focus on the things that matter most in their lives such as children, grandchildren, career and traveling.

Learn About your Condition and How to Manage and Improve your Health

Unlike many family doctors and specialists, I am able to take the time to explain your condition to you and will answer any questions that you have about it. With longer appointments than a regular doctors appointment, you will be heard.

I can also be help you sort through all of the information that you’ve found on websites, magazines, and TV shows (like Dr. Oz).

Learn what Factors cause Digestion Problems for You

I can work with you to figure out which foods or other factors cause digestive upset or contribute to the worsening of your digestive symptoms, promote inflammation, or flare up your autoimmune symptoms.

These foods that are harmful to your body can be identified with food sensitivity testing, as well as elimination diets.

Learn How to Better Manage Stress

A healthy mind and body are important for good health. Stress can negatively impact your body and mind. It can negatively affect your immune system and be harmful to regular digestion in the gut.

I can help you manage your stress with herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments.
